Hi, I’m Anneliese
I'm a mum of five, Grammie of two, pastor, storyteller and author. I love beautiful things, spontaneous adventures and a well-organised spreadsheet. I also have an unfortunate habit of embarrassing myself in public, which, thankfully, has provided plenty of material for this book.
For most of my life, people have described me as capable.
I'm the organiser. The planner. The one who likes to know where we're going, how we're getting there, and ideally have colour-coded tabs to prove it. I genuinely enjoy leading, serving and getting things done.
None of that is the problem.
The problem is how easily competence can convince us we don't need to rely on God quite as much as we think we do.
Somewhere along the way, I quietly started carrying things Jesus had never asked me to carry.
That realisation changed everything.
The Story Behind the Book
Chaotic & Competent wasn't born out of a crisis.
It grew out of ordinary life.
Family dinners that didn't go to plan. Public moments I'd happily erase if they hadn't turned into such good stories. Hospital corridors, road trips, church life, motherhood and Leadership.
The countless ordinary Tuesdays where God gently reminded me that faith isn't just about trusting Him with eternity. It's about trusting Him with today's responsibilities too.
The stories in this book are funny, sometimes deeply personal, occasionally ridiculous, and always pointing back to the same truth:
We were never meant to carry life alone.
What You'll Find Here
Whether you've landed here because of a Reel, a friend recommended the book, or you somehow stumbled across my corner of the internet, I'm so glad you're here.
My hope is that you'll find stories that make you laugh, encouragement that points you back to Jesus, and the freedom to put down a little of the weight you've been carrying.
Because following Jesus was never meant to feel like performing.
It's an invitation to walk with Him.
A Few Things About Me
Married to my favourite human, Matt, for 28 years.
Mumma to five incredible humans and Grammie to the two cutest tiny humans ever.
Following Jesus with more enthusiasm than expertise.
Big fan of adventures and Ferrero Rochers.
Living proof that public embarrassment is rarely fatal.
Still practising what it means to live a little less armoured and a little more surrendered.
Let’s Stay Connected
I'd love for you to join my email community.
I'll occasionally send stories, encouragement, behind-the-scenes updates, and probably evidence that I'm still finding new ways to make ordinary life unnecessarily memorable.
